The Toasted Marshmallow

We visited the Toasted Marshmallow as part of a roadtrip to the SC beaches with two young children. It was a peaceful stop to enjoy s'mores by the fire-pit after a long family hike nearby and disconnect from our busy life at home. The place was unique and clean; however, the water filtration system was loud one morning (i.e. this was disclosed in the instructions). Host was very responsive throughout our stay.

We visited the Toasted Marshmallow as a little mid week getaway. The location was so peaceful and quiet. We spent hours sitting by the stream and reading. Although we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, there were restaurant options that were just a little drive away.
The beds were super comfortable and we enjoyed the quirky-ness of the house. In the future, it may need some updating, but we found it homey and just what we needed.
The check-in/ check-out process was easy and the owner was very communicative.
All in all, we will stay there again!

We loved the Toasted Marshmallow! Very private and beautiful space that was a little oasis in the woods. Landon was very responsive and we appreciated the local recommendations- which were delicious! Very convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The little library building and grill area were both in need of some cleaning, but the fire pit area was great! We did get woken up by the water filtration system that is described in the house notes, but it did not bother us the rest of the time. I had to work remotely for part of the time and the wifi worked great. We would return- was a true getaway!

A very peaceful and tranquil oasis. I enjoyed the fire pit and outdoor space and the creek meandering through the property. The outdoor setting is wonderful. The home is as described and is unique and comfortable. I would highly recommend this space for a couple or small family or a small, very close, friend group getaway for folks that love the outdoors. For an extended stay you could bring badminton or corn hole because there is a really nice yard too. The only drawback is the one bath even though there is comfortable space for 6 to sleep; that was no surprise but the dome layout needs people that know each other well. Very cool to get to share this location with my dog. Of course, the longer the stay the more reasonable the cost of dog and cleaning fees which is the same for most airbnbs. I definitely hope to stay at this charmingly different home and location again.

This is my new favorite place to escape from the world. My dog loved walking the property and enjoying the creeks. It is a fantastic place to check out and relax. We found plenty of good food at the Gap Deli and the Pit Stop… but I honestly didn’t want to leave long enough to explore more. Landon was very nice and immediately answered any questions I had! I can’t wait to go back!

Very cute place. Quiet. Comfy beds. Clean. Enough utensils/ dishes and supplies. Appreciate items for s’mores. Setting is beautiful and peaceful. Good local food places but pretty rural so not a lot of choices.

If you want to be unavailable and this is the perfect place. Unfortunately the weather was uncooperative so we didn't get to enjoy a lot of the outdoor splendor. Very clean and comfortable!! We loved our stay at this unique home in the woods. It was clean, comfortable and private with everything we neded for a short stay. There are not a lot of options nearby for meals, but we came with our breakfast supplies and found great pizza at the Pit Stop restaurant and good beer at the Creek Bottom Brewery about 20-30 minutes away. Overall, a fun, different place to stay!

We had an absolute blast at Landon's home this week everything was perfect the place was easy to find but make sure you save the address in your maps because you will lose service once you start getting closer. This place is the hidden gem we needed the creek was absolutely beautiful and put me to sleep the first night. we spent the whole time exploring the woods and the many little buildings on the property.The home has some signs of ageing but nothing drastic at all and there is nothing we could complain about we had a blast! thank you so much Landon!!

We planned a getaway weekend with a couple of friends, and everyone agreed - the Toasted Marshmallow was the perfect place! Despite its concrete exterior, the house feels warm and seems larger than you might expect once you step inside. The gentle running of the creek next to the house and the fire pit were standout favorites of the experience. The location is very quiet and relaxing. We visited Mt. Airy, NC (25 minutes away) and Wytheville, VA (30 minutes away) for dining and shopping. Good location for finding hikes. This area is NOT commercially overrun. One recommendation: bring slip-on shoes for ease of going in and out of the house, which you may want to do often because the woods are just so pretty! We will be back and bring our kids.

The house was clean and well stocked/organized, the outdoor fireplace was great and Landon was a fantastic host, even offering to refund us for the extra firewood we bought. You feel you are in the middle of no where with complete private and remote location at your disposal! However the space is really only a few miles off the interstate. The Toasted Marshmallow was a perfect getaway destination for our family of 4 & dog. Having washer & dryer was a huge bonus. The fire pit set-up is really nice, close to the house. Lots to explore outside on the property. Our 7 year old daughter was already saying she wants to come back again before we left, so I call that a big win. Host was very responsive and accommodating, having a pack & play available for us to use after I shared we were traveling with our infant? My daughter, husband and I stayed at the toasted marshmallow house for a long weekend. We really enjoyed the drive there and all the fall foliage! The furniture was comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessities to cook meals, etc... lots of great hiking nearby as well!

The Toasted Marshmallow absolutely exceeded our expectations. I love that it is tucked away from all the noise, where all you hear is the creek and nature around you. The place was beautiful, and beds were very comfy. We loved waking up with a cup of coffee and sitting outside to listen to the birds. The S’Mores kit was a lovely touch and there was firewood sitting right next to the fire pit for us. The property itself is beautiful, and I loved exploring to the secret library. Landon had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, if only for a day! We will definitely plan to be back - it was the most peaceful place I’ve ever stayed. Thank you, Landon!

We had a fantastic stay, it was just what we needed. It was quiet, peaceful and rejuvenating. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful fire pit and toasting marshmallows while listening to the creek babbling. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. His recommendations were spot on, loved the Gap Deli. This was the perfect little getaway with several local shops in the area that were like hidden gems. Our host was incredibly communicative and responsive. He gave great details and helpful advice for our stay. We truly enjoy the simplicity of life and this is probably our most favorite Air BNB we’ve stayed in. We definitely would love to come back in the future. This was such a wonderfully unusual property! Very secluded, nicely stocked with immediate needs and just lovely. The little creek running through the property right by the master bedroom just so relaxing. Unfortunately it rained the entire stay so we never got to make use of the beautiful fire pit, but it looked SO nice. We may even come back for another stay when the weather is better. We would definitely recommend this property if you are looking for peace and quiet and a great nights sleep in beautiful surroundings!

A quaint, peaceful location, that felt relaxing, yet extremely unique in design, with options of multiple settings within the property. We able to relax in the sun, near the running stream, just outside of the house. We enjoyed the grilling deck early evening, that made the rain a perfect experience, as we stayed dry while listening to the rain on the tin roof. The interior was well designed, and made our evening experiences pleasurable and different than previous rentals.
Come fall we’ll come back to see the secluded and diverse flora again, while trying out the amazing fire pit.

The Toasted Marshmellow is an excellent setting in which to relax and slow down.
Complete with plush linens, games, puzzles, and books.
There’s a fabulous fire pit outside with Edison bulb lighting above. Plenty of space, and a minimalistic but gorgeously decorated abode.
Not that you’ll need it but too smart TVs with Netflix and Max.
And a babbling brook running along the property was a delight to wake up to.
Loved hiking the area: Devil’s Den, Gully Creek, Fishers Peak Trail, and Stone Mountain. Rented a bike in nearby Galax and rode the New River Trail in Matthews State Park has lots of mountain biking trails.
Galax has cute shops and a wonderful farmers market as well.
Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. And the Blue Ridge Parkway music center has free. Live bluegrass 12 to 4 and concerts on many summer Saturdays.

The property was in a nice area right off the blue ridge parkway! It was cozy and very clean. It is in the woods, so roads are gravel and no street lights. However, it was still a very nice property. It was clean and the owner was easy to contact. If you want a get away to the mountains I would recommend the marshmallow!

This was the perfect place for a relaxing and intimate girls weekend getaway! Everything was very clean, minimal/modern and peaceful. The house is very cozy and we really enjoyed the fire pit. We will definitely be back!

The unusual shape of the house was intriguing so I clicked to see more. I was visiting Mt. Airy which was close by and the pictures of this house made me want an adventure! The rooms are lovely. I truly felt at home. I had everything I needed. The location was excellent. Close enough to do the required work I needed to do but provided the beauty and privacy I so love. It was very cold during my visit so I didn't spend a great deal of time outside but summer is near!! I really want to enjoy the fire pit and have some s'mores! I will be going for a second visit! Loved the trees in back and the creek noise was magical and soothing. I could live in this house! So adorable and functional. Thank you Landon for your replies that came almost immediately! I don't know where you were but I always felt I had someone to reach out to if necessary. This was an adventure! I loved staying at the Toasted Marshmallow!!

We booked The Toasted Marshmallow for my mother's 60th birthday getaway w her friends. It absolutely perfect. Every expectation was met to its fullest. It's was nestled in a mountain and the view was amazing. It gave a feeling of peace and relaxation. We spent an entire day there just relaxing and soaking in the coziness it offered. The Toasted Marshmellow was exactly what we needed to make our bucket list getaway memorable. We treated our dear friend to a peaceful trip away from the city during her last days. The property and home were straight from a storybook and the babbling brook was ever so tranquil. The master bedroom was the jewel of the house with a multitude of large windows and a view of the outdoors from every angle which was ideal due to her limited mobility. Even when it rained one entire day, the room was bright and cheerful. The fire pit was easily accessible, freshly graveled, and surrounded by comfortable seating with perfect lighting. We highly recommend this home as a place to slow down and reconnect with the people you love. I must add my praise for the honesty of the housekeeping who immediately reached out when I accidentally left behind my purse, wallet, and essential keys.

The Toasted Marshmallow is such a cute dome! We stayed mainly downstairs but if there were more people with us, could’ve definitely accommodated more as there is two more beds and a couch in the dome. Everything is as stated and Landon was super responsive in requests, questions, etc. I picked this place since I thought it would be something different instead of an apartment or regular house and such for an Airbnb. It’s in a very very remote location, a bit scary if you’re driving at night as there are no outside lights around the dome besides around the fire pit. If you’re looking for a peaceful, remote, private, and in the neck of the woods type of location, then this is the place for you! I didn’t realize just how remote it would be and as a POC, I’m always aware of my surroundings. Food and grocery are 20 minutes out, so be prepared to already have brought the necessary items during your stay. Overall, enjoyed our peaceful and quaint little stay! Thanks Landon!

Myself and three other girlfriends booked this Airbnb and we are SO glad we did! The owner, Landon, was super quick to reply to any questions we had, and gave us amazing recommendations to check out in the local area! His place is a must see! It’s in a private, gorgeous location and the scenery is so stunning! There is a little book nook in a separate little shed that was so charming with a lantern, chairs and books! The interior of the Toasted Marshmallow blew us away! It’s such a unique layout and even with 4 girls, we could’ve easily taken two others with us with the space and beds available! We LOVED the loft and spent the evenings there watching tv! It was so clean and they also give you things to start you off (I.e) trash bags, paper towels, cutlery, plates etc! They also leave a set up of s’mores for you to roast over the fire pit on site (which is just over this adorable bridge and babbling creek!) 10/10 recommend and we will definitely be making this an annual trip!

We had a great visit at the Toasted Marshmallow. All was just as advertised. The place is a perfect secluded spot which is exactly what we wanted. We enjoyed the fire pit each night after grilling out. The s’mores supplies left by Landon were a nice touch. Quick access from the house to the Blue Ridge Parkway was an added bonus. Easy check in and out process. Landon was quick and responsive to anything we needed. Amazing place if you’re looking to get away.

We loved the "Toasted Marshmallow". What a beautiful fall setting! We especially enjoyed the night sky with a clear night! Simply stocked pantry came in handy when using the very capable kitchen. S'mores were are treat thanks to the host! Firepit was great. Bed was comfy!
We spent time in Mt. Airy ( 30 min). Loved Old North State winery, good wine great food. Tons of amazing antiquing spots. Played some low-key golf at Skyland Golf Links (10 min). Great lunch at Gap Deli (Fancy Gap) and had fun browsing at the "Frontera Roots" ladies boutique.

This trip was great. The location is very peaceful and quiet. The sounds of nature and the stream are great for relaxing. We loved using the fire pit as well as the grilling area. The house is so cool and unique. The inside is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We played golf at Skyland Lakes which was very close. We also drove to Marion, Va and hiked at Hungry Mother State park. After that we rode our motorcycle on the back of the dragon which is a fun scenic drive. Highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to relax and get away from the busyness of life.

My friends and I had a wonderful time in Marshmallow:) it’s a very cute building with plenty of shared space and lovely outdoor space. We didn’t get to use the outdoor grill or fire pit because of the weather but it’s nice to have that option. The second bedroom is quite tiny but it was fine for the two nights we spent there. The house is in a pretty secluded and quiet area which we loved! We’d definitely stay there again :) thank you, Landon!
